Regular Season Round 5: CFBB - Clermont 68-74

Bottom-ranked CFBB (0-5) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 74-68 loss to thirteenth ranked Stade Clermont (2-3) in Paris. It looked good early as CFBB took an 3-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Stade Clermont had a 22-11 second period charge getting the lead and CFBB was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 68-74. Naturalized Mali swingman Mahmoud Diakite (197-86, college: Wyoming) nailed 23 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side and American forward Jonathan McClark (200-77, college: Rider) accounted for 15 points and 9 rebounds. Power forward Mouhammadou Jaiteh (201-94) came up with 13 points and 8 rebounds and power forward Yannis Morin (206-93) added 14 points and 6 rebounds respectively for CFBB in the defeat. Four CFBB players scored in double figures. CFBB's coach Jacques Commeres rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Stade Clermont moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with 3 other teams. CFBB lost their fifth game in a row. They still closes the standings with five games lost. Stade Clermont's next round opponent will be Lievin Basket (#13) on the road. CFBB will play against Saint-Quentin (#5) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
