Rather predictable result when ninth ranked Meridiano Alicante (3-1) smashed at home 11th ranked Blancos de Rueda (1-2) 91-64 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Meridiano Alicante. Blancos de Rueda was better in third quarter 22-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Meridiano Alicante shot the lights out from three sinking 17 long-distance shots on high 56.7 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Pedro Llompart (190-82) who helped to win the game recording 9 points and 12 assists and American forward Kyle Singler (203-88, college: Duke) who added 17 points during the contest. Four Meridiano Alicante players scored in double figures. At the losing side French-Ivorian forward Herve Toure (202-82) responded with 11 points and Croatian center Dalibor Bagaric (217-80, agency: INVICTUS Sports Group) scored 4 points and 9 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Meridiano Alicante moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Blancos de Rueda dropped to the thirteenth position with two games lost. Meridiano Alicante will face Blusens Monbus (#10) in Santoago de Comp in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Blancos de Rueda will play at home against Caja Laboral in Vitoria.
