Regular Season Round 6: CB Canarias - Girona 80-69

Not a big story in a game when 8th ranked Girona FC (3-3) lost to third ranked Canarias (5-1) in Tenerife 69-80 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 80-69. It was a good game for American power forward Jakim Donaldson (204-83, college: Edinboro) who led his team to a victory with 16 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). The former international power forward Ricardo Guillen (205-76) contributed with 12 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Five Canarias players scored in double figures. point guard Ignacio Ordin (183-78) replied with 19 points and forward Sergi Pino (196-87) added 14 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Girona FC. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Canarias have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Burgos and La Palma. Loser Girona FC dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. Canarias will face Caceres 2016 (#13) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Girona FC will play against UB La Palma (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
