There was no surprise in Melbourne where bottom-ranked West Coast Waves (0-4) were crushed by sixth ranked Bulleen Boomers (2-1) 104-79 on Sunday. The game without a history. Bulleen Boomers led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to West Coast Waves' 42. Bulleen Boomers forced 19 West Coast Waves turnovers and outrebounded them 56-28 including a 39-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for international guard Rachel Jarry (185-91) who led her team to a victory scoring 22 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. International center Liz Cambage (203-91) helped adding 27 points and 5 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). The best for the losing side was the former international forward Rohanee Cox (182-80) with 28 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and guard Melissa Marsh (175-85) scored 24 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with Adelaide and Dandenong R. Loser West Coast Waves still closes the standings with four games lost. They share the position with AIS. Bulleen Boomers will meet Dandenong Rangers (#5) on the road in the next round. West Coast Waves will play against Dandenong Rangers (#5) and hope to get finally their first victory.
