Regular Season Round 6: M.Magixx - Leiden 68-74

The game between closely ranked teams ended with fifth ranked Leiden's (3-2) road victory over 6th ranked Nijmegen (3-2) 74-68 on Wednesday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Nijmegen won third quarter 14-9. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Leiden dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Nijmegen's 30. They outrebounded Nijmegen 47-31 including a 36-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for American power forward Gabe Kennedy (205-81, college: UAB, agency: R.H.Consultancy) who led his team to a victory with 24 points and 6 rebounds. Canadian forward Jevohn Shepherd (196-86, college: Michigan) contributed with 16 points (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) for the winners. Leiden's coach Toon Van Helfteren used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Markel Humphrey (198-87, college: Marshall) replied with 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Canadian forward Ross Bekkering (203-85, agency: Scorers 1st Sportmanagement) added 12 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Nijmegen. Four Nijmegen players scored in double figures. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with defeated Nijmegen. Leiden will have a break next round. Nijmegen will play at home against Leeuwarden.
