The game between third ranked Barreteros (11-7) and sixth ranked Huracanes (11-7) was the most important one in the last round on Thursday night. Barreteros were crushed by Huracanes in Tampico 59-81. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 81-59. Huracanes made 27-of-32 free shots (84.4 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Robert Hornsby (196-82, college: Troy) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 5 rebounds. Venezuelan forward Nestor Colmenares (203-87, college: Campbellsville) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. American forward Chaz Twan Briggs (201-80, college: W.Virginia) answered with 6 points and 15 rebounds and the other American import forward James Reaves (203-82, college: Niagara, agency: TSS Management) added 17 points in the effort for Barreteros. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Huracanes moved-up to fourth place, which they share with defeated Barreteros. Barreteros lost third consecutive game. Huracanes is looking forward to face Panteras (#11) in Aguascalientes in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Barreteros will play on the road against Correcaminos (#10) in Ciudad Victoria and are hoping to win this game.
