Regular Season Round 19: Lechugueros - Abejas 108-111 OT

Lechugueros (#12) forced the game against Abejas (#10) into an overtime, but lost by three points 108-111 on Thursday night. The game took place in Leon. But the guests from Guanajuato were better at the end. Lechugueros were trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 5-point lead after three quarters before a 28-23 charge of Abejas, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 18-15. Abejas made 23-of-29 free shots (79.3 percent) during the game. Abejas outrebounded Lechugueros 45-34 including 17 on the offensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for American-Jamaican forward Mattis McHugh (198-84, college: S.Florida) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Lorrenzo Wade (198-85, college: San Diego St.) accounted for 30 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his seven free throws) for the winning side. Abejas' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American forward Deilvez Yearby (198-87, college: IPFW, agency: Pro One Sports) came up with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks and Bahamas power forward Ryan Moss (200-74, college: UALR) added 33 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds (on 14-of-17 shooting from the field) respectively for Lechugueros in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Abejas (8-10) moved-up to ninth place. Loser Lechugueros keep the twelfth position with 12 games lost. Abejas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Lechugueros will play again against Abejas (#9) in Guanajuato and hope to secure a win.
