Very expected game in Kanagawa where bottom-ranked Toshiba Thunders (0-8) were defeated by fourth ranked Mitsubishi Dolphins (5-3) 82-71 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Mitsubishi Dolphins. Toshiba Thunders was better in third quarter 23-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Mitsubishi Dolphins had a 35-24 advantage in offensive rebounds. American center Byron Allen (201-81, college: Northwestern St., agency: Dream Hoops) fired 9 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Power forward Jun Uzawa (197-81) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds. Swingman Yatsutoshi Uda (190-86) produced 19 points and American center Scott Merritt (208-82, college: Marquette) added 11 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Toshiba Thunders players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Mitsubishi Dolphins have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 5-3 record. Loser Toshiba Thunders still closes the standings with eight games lost. Mitsubishi Dolphins will face league's second-placed Toyota Alvark in Fuchu in the next round and it may be the game of the week.
