Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both thirteenth ranked Lievin Basket and 14th ranked Stade Clermont had identical 2-3 record. This time Lievin Basket used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Clermont 75-69 on Friday night. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Lievin Basket outrebounded Stade Clermont 46-33 including 21 on the offensive glass. It was a good game for S.Matthew who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds. Forward Aude Pierre-Joseph (194-79) contributed with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Guard Bianco Matanga (188-87) replied with 17 points and forward Jonathan Beugnot (201-83, college: Clayton St.) added 10 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Stade Clermont. Four Lievin Basket and five Stade Clermont players scored in double figures. Lievin Basket (3-3) moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Challans and Chartres. Loser Stade Clermont dropped to the twelfth position with four games lost. Lievin Basket will face Chartres (#10) in the next round. Stade Clermont will play against Saint-Quentin and be promoted back to the ProB just one year after relegation.
