Regular Season Round 4: Fjolnir - Valur 81-77

No shocking result in a game when ninth ranked Fjolnir (2-2) beat at home bottom-ranked Valur (0-4) 81-77 on Friday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 31-19. But Valur won second period 21-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Quite impressive performance for American forward Nathan Walkup (200-88, college: Texas A&M) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Arni Ragnarsson (192-87) contributed with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. American forward Darnell Hugee (201-85, college: Prairie View A&M) replied with a double-double by scoring 30 points, 11 rebounds and 6 blocks and Slovenian power forward Igor Tratnik (206-89) added 13 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Valur. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Valur's coach tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Fjolnir moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted Valur still closes the standings with four games lost. Fjolnir will face Haukar (#10) in Hafnarfjordur in the next round. Valur will play at home against the league's leader Grindavik and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
