The game had a very big importance for second-ranked New Zealand Breakers as it allowed them to take a leadership position. New Zealand Breakers defeated 5th ranked Kings in Auckland 76-59. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Kings. The game was mostly controlled by New Zealand Breakers. Kings managed to win second period 18-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. New Zealand Breakers forced 24 Kings turnovers. The former international guard CJ Bruton (188-75, college: Indian Hills CC) fired 21 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American forward Gary Wilkinson (206-82, college: Utah St.) chipped in 20 points. New Zealand Breakers' coach Andrej Lemanis used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international center Julian Khazzouh (210-86) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and American power forward Jerai Grant (203-89, college: Clemson) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Kings at the other side dropped to the sixth place with three games lost. Kings will play next round against strong Melbourne Tigers trying to get back on the winning streak. New Zealand Breakers will try to continue on its current victory against eighth ranked Adelaide 36ers in Findon.
