Regular Season Round 9: Komarno - Vahostav-Zilina 88-84

There was no surprise when 8th ranked Vahostav-Zilina (2-6) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Komarno (5-3) 88-84. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Vahostav-Zilina was ahead by 1 point after three quarters before a 24-19 charge of Komarno, which allowed them to win the game. They shot 60.4 percent from the field. Komarno had a 20-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for American guard Johnathon Jones (183-88, college: Oakland, agency: TSS Management) who led his team to a victory with 23 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Slovenian forward Sinisa Bilic (201-89) contributed with 13 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Komarno players scored in double figures. Komarno's coach Peter Balint allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American guard Perry Petty (185, college: UTPA) answered with 26 points and 5 assists and the former international center Ondrej Soska (208-78) added 19 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Vahostav-Zilina. Komarno have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Nitra and Nova Ves. Vahostav-Zilina lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with six games lost. Komarno will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Vahostav-Zilina will play at home against Nitra (#3) in Nitra and hopes to get back on the winning track.
