Regular Season Round 7: Leon - Menorca 94-79

There was a surprise result when thirteenth ranked Baloncesto Leon (3-4) defeated at home higher ranked Menorca Basquet (3-4) 94-79 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 11 points after first quarter, but they stormed back winning two of next three quarters and won the game by 15 points. Baloncesto Leon made 23-of-27 free shots (85.2 percent) during the game. Menorca Basquet was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American-Dominican point guard Emmanuel Quezada (188-85, college: USF) who led his team to a victory scoring 33 points (!!!) (made all of his eleven free throws !!!). American power forward JONATHAN Durley (203-88, college: Wichita St.) helped adding 27 points (on 12-of-13 shooting from the field). At the losing side swingman David Navarro (192-83) responded with 26 points (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) and power forward Urko Otegui (203-81) scored 15 points and 9 rebounds. Menorca Basquet's coach let to play ten players and allowed the starting five to rest. Baloncesto Leon moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Menorca Basquet. Baloncesto Leon will face league's second-placed Canarias in Tenerife in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
