Regular Season Round 3: Ros Casares - Ibiza 77-54
Date: October 29, 2011
There was no surprise in Valencia where bottom-ranked Ibiza (0-3) was crushed by leader Ros Casares (3-0) 77-54. The game was mostly controlled by Ros Casares. Ibiza was better in fourth quarter 16-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ros Casares forced 19 Ibiza turnovers and outrebounded them 33-22 including 21 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Ibiza's players. It was a good game for international center Sancho Lyttle (192-83, college: Houston) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. Puerto Rican-Montenegrin swingman Eshaya Murphy (182-85, college: USC) contributed with 16 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Ros Casares' coach Natalia Hejkova felt very confident using 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. American forward Melissa Dennett (188-83, college: Colorado St.) answered with 19 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import swingman Catherine Scanlon (180-83, college: Drexel) added 13 points and 4 steals in the effort for Ibiza. Ros Casares have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Perfumerias and Rivas Ecopolis. Ibiza at the other side still closes the standings with three games lost. They share the position with Hondar.-Irun. Ros Casares will play against Mann Filter (#6) in Zaragoza in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Ibiza will play at home against Cadi la Seu (#11) in Seu D'urgell and hopes to get finally their first victory.
