The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Sydney Uni Flames as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Sydney Uni Flames edged 5th ranked Bendigo Spirit at home 81-79. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Bendigo Spirit. Bendigo Spirit was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Sydney Uni Flames made 9 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Amy Denson (186-84, college: Arizona St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 32 points and 13 rebounds. International guard Alicia Poto (166-78) contributed with 16 points and 6 assists for the winners. International swingman Tess Madgen (180-90) replied with 21 points and 7 assists and the former international guard Kristi Harrower (166-75) added 20 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Bendigo Spirit. Sydney Uni Flames (5-0) have an impressive five-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Townsville F. Bendigo Spirit at the other side dropped to the sixth place with three games lost. They share the position with Logan T.. Bendigo Spirit will play next round against strong Adelaide Lightning trying to get back on the winning streak. Sydney Uni Flames will try to continue on its current victory against ninth ranked AIS in Belconnen.
