Round 5 in ACB means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Valencia where host Valencia Basket (3-2) beat league's leader Unicaja Malaga (4-1) 75-62 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Unicaja Malaga. The hosts trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 37-21 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was French guard Nando De Colo (202-87) who scored 22 points and 5 rebounds. International guard Rafael Martinez (191-82) chipped in 17 points. British forward Joel Freeland (208-87) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and Croatian forward Hrvoje Peric (203-85) added 12 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Valencia Basket moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Unicaja Malaga at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. They were joined at the leadership position by FCB Regal who have the same record. Unicaja Malaga will play next round against Blancos de Rueda trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Valencia Basket will try to continue on its current victory against seventeenth ranked Lagun Aro GBC in San Sebastian.
