There was no surprise in Kariya where 6th ranked Panasonic Trians (1-7) were defeated by second ranked Aishin Sea Horses (7-1) 66-57 on Sunday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 21-15. But Panasonic Trians won second period 14-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Aishin Sea Horses dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Panasonic Trians' 28. The former international power forward J.R. Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) fired a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. American forward Anthony Richardson (201-83, college: Florida St., agency: TSS Management) chipped in 8 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Charles O'Bannon (198-75, college: UCLA) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds and international swingman Kosuke Kanamaru (193-89) added 8 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Toyota Alvark. Loser Panasonic Trians dropped to the seventh place with seven games lost. Aishin Sea Horses will face Hitachi Sunrockers (#3) in Osaka in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Panasonic Trians will play at home against Toshiba Thunders (#8) in Kanagawa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
