Regular Season Round 7: Ruvo - Firenze 70-64

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Ruvo di Puglia where 5th ranked Firenze (2-5) was defeated by sixth ranked Ruvo (1-6) 70-64 on Sunday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Firenze won fourth quarter 14-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ruvo forced 23 Firenze turnovers. Swingman Christian Villani (200-82) fired 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Guard Gianluca Tomasiello (190-80) chipped in 8 points and 8 rebounds. Swingman Alessandro Amici (200-91) produced 15 points and 8 rebounds and center Andrea Capitanelli (203-86) added 9 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ruvo left bottom position moving up to fifth place which they share with defeated Firenze. Newly promoted Firenze keeps the fifth position with five games lost. Ruvo will face league's second-placed Trieste on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Firenze will play against Mazzeo San Severo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
