Regular Season Round 5: Nuovo Napoli - Giorgo Tesi PT 92-100 OT
Date: October 30, 2011
Bottom-ranked S.Antimo (0-4) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 100-92 overtime loss to third ranked Tuscany Pistoia (4-1) in Sant'Antimo on Sunday evening. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. The guests trailed by 5 points after three quarters before their 19-14 charge, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time and get a 8-point victory in overtime. Tuscany Pistoia made 27-of-31 free shots (87.1 percent) during the game. The game was dominated by American players. Guard Dwight Hardy (188, college: St.John's) stepped up and scored 44 points (!!!) for the winners and forward Bobby Jones (201-84, college: Washington) chipped in 16 points and 9 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Guard David Teague (196-83, college: Purdue) responded with a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds and swingman Folarin Campbell (193-86, college: George Mason) scored 13 points and 9 rebounds. Four S.Antimo players scored in double figures. Tuscany Pistoia have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Centrale Latte. Newly promoted S.Antimo still closes the standings with four games lost. Tuscany Pistoia will meet at home league's second-placed Centrale Latte in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. S.Antimo will play against Tezenis Verona (#14) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
