Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both tenth ranked Cimberio Varese and one of their biggest challengers Lottomatica Roma had identical 2-1 record. But Lottomatica Roma was not able to use a home court advantage and was edged by the opponent from Varese 76-74 on Sunday night. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime then Lottomatica Roma managed to tie the game at the end of regular time. However that was Cimberio Varese who were better in overtime eventually winning that period 11-9. Worth to mention a great performance of French forward Yakhouba Diawara (201-82, college: Pepperdine) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds and Croatian point guard Rok Stipcevic (186-86) who added 15 points and 8 assists during the contest. Cimberio Varese's coach Carlo Recalcati used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side American guard Clay Tucker (195-80, college: Wisc.-Milwaukee, agency: Pro One Sports) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and Montenegrin forward Vladimir Dasic (207-88, agency: Beo Basket) scored 13 points and 7 rebounds. Four Cimberio Varese and five Lottomatica Roma players scored in double figures. Cimberio Varese have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with 4 other teams. Loser Lottomatica Roma dropped to the eighth position with two games lost. Cimberio Varese will face league's leader Pepsi Caserta at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Lottomatica Roma will play against Montepaschi Siena (#4).
