Regular Season Round 10: Chanson V-M - Fujitsu RW 48-47

The most exciting game of round 10 in the WJBL took place in Shizuoka. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of much higher ranked Fujitsu RW (7-3) to fifth ranked Chanson V-M (4-6) 48-47 on Sunday evening. Fujitsu RW was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Strangely Fujitsu RW outrebounded Chanson V-M 41-29 including 28 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international power forward Yuka Watanabe (181-81) who helped to win the game recording 14 points and 6 rebounds. International swingman Saori Fujiyoshi (178-87) contributed with 9 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Power forward Megumi Shinohara (184-91) replied with 18 points and 9 rebounds and international forward Yoko Nagi (175-82) added 10 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Fujitsu RW. Fujitsu RW's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Chanson V-M maintains fifth position with 4-6 record. Fujitsu RW at the other side dropped to the third place with three games lost. They share the position with Denso Iris. Chanson V-M are looking forward to face Mitsubishi K. (#7) in Nagoya in the next round. Fujitsu RW will play on the road against the league's leader JX Sunflowers (#1) in Kashiwa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
