Regular Season Round 10: Mitsubishi K. - JX Sunflowers 71-93

WJBL top team - JX Sunflowers (8-2) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed seventh ranked Mitsubishi K. (2-8) in Nagoya 93-71. The game was mostly controlled by JX Sunflowers. Mitsubishi K. was better in fourth quarter 28-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. JX Sunflowers dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Mitsubishi K.'s 36. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Power forward Lynn Kibayashi (184-89) had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and guard Oh Okami (170-82) chipped in 13 points and 8 assists during the contest. At the losing side international forward Chika Sakuragi (179-91) responded with 17 points and 7 rebounds and guard Yasuko Hashimoto (163-82) scored 13 points and 8 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. JX Sunflowers have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 8-2 record, which they share with Toyota A. Mitsubishi K. lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with eight games lost. JX Sunflowers will play against Fujitsu RW (#4) in Kawasaki in the next round. Mitsubishi K. will play on the road against Chanson V-M in Shizuoka and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
