Regular Season Round 7: Toyama Grouses - Shinshu BW 81-88

Rather predictable result when fifth ranked Shinshu BW (4-2) defeated on the road 8th ranked Toyama Grouses (2-4) 88-81 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 88-81. The game was dominated by American players. It was a great evening for power forward Lee Roberts (201-87, college: Findlay, OH) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists. Guard Derek Raivio (190-84, college: Gonzaga, agency: Priority Sports) helped adding 22 points and 5 rebounds. At the losing side power forward Devin Searcy (208-89, college: Dayton, agency: Pro One Sports) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds and guard Haakim Johnson (201-87, college: Pikeville) scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Shinshu BW have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Okinawa GK and Shimane SM. Loser Toyama Grouses dropped to the seventh position with four games lost. Shinshu BW will face Sendai 89ers (#5) at home in the next round. Toyama Grouses will play against Iwate Big Bulls.
