No shocking result in a game when top-ranked Beer Yaakov (4-0) defeated on the road 9th ranked Hod Hasharon (1-3) 88-79 on Tuesday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Hod Hasharon won third quarter 23-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Beer Yaakov shot 24 for 35 from the free-throw line, while Hod Hasharon only scored eight points from the stripe. American forward Nate Miller (193-87, college: Bowling Green) fired a double-double by scoring 29 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. The other American import forward Jermaine Hall (196-80, college: Wagner) chipped in 29 points and 8 rebounds. Four Beer Yaakov players scored in double figures. The former international guard Avi Sukar (187-76) produced 26 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and American forward Anthony Johnson (203-88, college: Fairfield) added 14 points and 15 rebounds respectively for lost side. Hod Hasharon's coach tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Beer Yaakov have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Kiryat Tivon. Loser Hod Hasharon keeps the ninth place with three games lost. Beer Yaakov will face Elitzur Ramla (#10) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Hod Hasharon will play against Hapoel Afula and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
