Bottom-ranked Volcanes is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their 21th consecutive match to third ranked Toros (13-6) 102-73 on Tuesday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Toros. Volcanes managed to win second period 20-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Toros dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Volcanes' 38. They outrebounded Volcanes 45-30 including 16 on the offensive glass. Dominican power forward Elys Manuel Guzman (206-82, college: Bemidji St.) nailed a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side and American guard Rene Rougeau (198-86, college: UNLV) accounted for 15 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Five Toros players scored in double figures. Toros' coach felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Larry Morinia (180-80, college: Montana St., agency: ProSportsCareers) came up with 29 points and 4 steals and naturalized American swingman Eric Martin (196-71) added 22 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Volcanes in the defeat. Toros have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain third place with 13-6 record having just two points less than leader Fuerza Regia. Loser Volcanes still closes the standings. Toros will meet at home Pioneros (#7) in the next round. Volcanes will play against the league's leader Fuerza Regia (#1) in Monterrey and hope to get finally their first victory.
