Date: November 1, 2011
Very expected game when 13th ranked Aguilas Rojas (3-18) were smashed on the road by ninth ranked Halcones UV Xalapa (9-3) 123-83 on Tuesday. The game without a history. Halcones UV Xalapa led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Halcones UV Xalapa looked well-organized offensively handing out 37 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Aguilas Rojas' players. It was a good game for American guard Demetric Shaw (191-78, college: Kent St.) who led his team to a victory with 26 points and 8 rebounds. The former international center Adam Parada (213-81, college: Cal-Irvine) contributed with 17 points and 9 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) for the winners. Naturalized American guard Dorsey answered with 24 points and Christopher Gryne added 13 points in the effort for Aguilas Rojas. Five Halcones UV Xalapa and four Aguilas Rojas players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Halcones UV Xalapa have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. They moved-up to eighth place. Aguilas Rojas lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth position with 18 games lost. Halcones UV Xalapa will face higher ranked Soles (#6) in Mexicali in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Aguilas Rojas will play on the road against the league's second-placed Halcones Rojos (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
