Very expected game when 10th ranked Correcaminos (8-11) lost to fifth ranked Huracanes (13-8) in Tampico 85-91 on Wednesday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Correcaminos were tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Huracanes made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. American center Albert Fuqua (211-83, college: UTSA) notched 19 points and 9 rebounds to lead the effort and the other American import forward Leroy Davis (200-81, college: Georgia St.) supported him with 17 points and 7 rebounds. Four Huracanes players scored in double figures. Even 26 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists by American point guard Myron Allen (180-79, college: Lee JC) did not help to save the game for Correcaminos. Trinidad and Tobago forward DeVaughn Lamont (208-84, college: Cal.St.-Monterey, agency: 011 Sports) added 17 points and 9 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Huracanes moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Barreteros. Loser Correcaminos keep the tenth position with 11 games lost. Huracanes will meet Aguilas Rojas (#13) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Correcaminos will play against Soles in Mexicali and hope to secure a win.
