Not a big story in a game when 7th ranked Pioneros (10-8) lost to third ranked Toros (14-6) in Nuevo Laredo 76-88 on Wednesday. The game without a history. Toros led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. It was a great shooting night for Toros especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. American players dominated the game. Forward Devon Pearson (198-84, college: SMU) notched 34 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds to lead the effort and guard Rene Rougeau (198-86, college: UNLV) supported him with 16 points and 5 assists. Four Toros players scored in double figures. Even 27 points and 5 assists by guard LeRoy Hickerson (196-82, college: Cumberlands) did not help to save the game for Pioneros. Forward John Millsap (198-82, college: UTSA) added 19 points and 8 rebounds for lost side. Toros have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 14-6 record having just two points less than leader Fuerza Regia. Loser Pioneros keep the seventh place with eight games lost. Toros will meet at home Barreteros (#5) in the next round. Pioneros will play against Volcanes in Toluca and hope to secure a win.
