No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Valmiera (3-2) crushed at home 7th ranked Jelgava (1-4) 94-73 on Wednesday. The game without a history. Valmiera led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. The former international forward Ernests Kalve (200-87) notched 36 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and power forward Artjoms Butjankovs (205-91, agency: FCM) supported him with 14 points and 6 rebounds. Five Valmiera players scored in double figures. Even 19 points and 7 rebounds by swingman Edgars Krumins (194-86) did not help to save the game for Jelgava. Forward Andris Justovics (198-89) added 22 points. Jelgava's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Valmiera moved-up to third place. Jelgava at the other side keeps the seventh position with four games lost. Valmiera will meet at home Jurmala (#4) in the next round. Jelgava will play against Turiba and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
