Bottom-ranked Volcanes is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 23th consecutive match to seventh ranked Pioneros (11-8) 122-71 on Friday evening. The game without a history. Pioneros led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 80 of its points in the paint compared to Volcanes' 36. They outrebounded Volcanes 40-17 including a 27-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for the former international forward Stephen Soriano (201-84, college: Mesa St.) who led the winners and scored 28 points and 7 rebounds. American guard LeRoy Hickerson (196-82, college: Cumberlands) accounted for 26 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Five Pioneros players scored in double figures. Coach 's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Naturalized American swingman Eric Martin (196-71) came up with 29 points and American guard Larry Morinia (180-80, college: Montana St., agency: ProSportsCareers) added 12 points and 8 assists respectively for Volcanes in the defeat. Pioneros maintains seventh place with 11-8 record. Loser Volcanes still closes the standings. Pioneros will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Volcanes will play again against Pioneros (#7) in Cancun and hope to get finally their first victory.
