Regular Season Round 4: Batumi - STU Tbilisi 79-80

Bottom-ranked Batumi is still unable to win any game. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their fourth consecutive match to sixth ranked STU (3-1) 80-79 on Friday evening. The guests trailed by 7 points at the halftime before their 24-15 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. STU outrebounded Batumi 57-37 including a 37-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. Batumi was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for forward Zviad Antadze (198-88, college: Monroe Coll.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points, 18 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Forward Vasili Beruashvili (198-90) contributed with 22 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. point guard Irakli Mikeladze (179-94) replied with 25 points and 4 assists (made all of his seven free throws) and forward Avtandil Eliashvili (200-89) added 24 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Batumi. STU moved-up to second place, which they share with Kutaisi and Sokhumi. Loser Batumi still closes the standings with four games lost. STU will have a break next round. Batumi will play at home against Sokhumi (#3) in Tbilisi and hopes to get finally their first victory.
