Regular Season Round 5: Kings - Tigers 76-94

The game in Sydney was also quite interesting. Third ranked Melbourne Tigers (5-1) played at the court of 6th ranked Kings (2-4). Melbourne Tigers did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 94-76 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Melbourne Tigers. Kings managed to win fourth quarter 18-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Melbourne Tigers forced 19 Kings turnovers. Strangely Kings outrebounded Melbourne Tigers 44-27 including a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The former international point guard Patrick Mills (183-88, college: St.Mary's, CA) stepped up and scored 20 points and 8 assists for the winners and international power forward Cameron Tragardh (209-83, college: ORU) chipped in 15 points. Melbourne Tigers' coach Trevor Gleeson allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The former international center Julian Khazzouh (210-86) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 16 rebounds and the former international guard Aaron Bruce (191-84) scored 25 points. Four Kings players scored in double figures. Melbourne Tigers have a solid series of four victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Breakers. Loser Kings keep the sixth place with four games lost. Melbourne Tigers will meet at home Townsville Crocodiles (#4) in the next round. Kings will play against Adelaide 36ers in Findon and hope to secure a win.
