Regular Season Round 7: Pogon Prudnik - Stal Ostrow 70-66

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when third ranked Pogon Prudnik (5-2) beat at home their biggest opponent BM Wegiel Stal (5-2) 70-66 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 70-66. Pogon Prudnik made 22-of-22 free shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. They also forced 23 BM Wegiel Stal turnovers. It was a great evening for forward Tomasz Lakis (194-82) who led his team to a victory scoring 16 points and 7 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws). Forward Jaroslaw Pawlowski (194-80) helped adding 12 points and 12 rebounds. Five Pogon Prudnik players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international forward Wojciech Szawarski (195-76) responded with 20 points and guard Marcin Kalowski (191-80) scored 17 points and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Pogon Prudnik moved-up to second place in Group B, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated BM Wegiel Stal. Pogon Prudnik will face AZS AGH Alstom (#6) in Krakow in the next round. BM Wegiel Stal will play at home against WKK Obiekty (#5) in Wroclaw.
