Regular Season Round 5: Tochigi Brex - Hokkaido L. 80-98

The game between closely ranked teams ended with fifth ranked Hokkaido L.'s (5-5) road victory over 6th ranked Tochigi Brex (3-7) 98-80 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Hokkaido L.. Tochigi Brex was better in third quarter 32-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hokkaido L. shot 61.3 percent from the field. The best player for the winners was German power forward Tilo Klette (206-77) who scored 19 points and 8 rebounds. Senegalese swingman Mamadou Diouf (197-77, college: Delaware) chipped in 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Hokkaido L. players scored in double figures. American forward Ivan McFarlin (203-82, college: Oklahoma St.) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and international guard Takuya Kawamura (193-86) added 19 points and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Hokkaido L. moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Mitsubishi DD. Tochigi Brex at the other side keeps the sixth position with seven games lost. Hokkaido L. will face bottom-ranked Toshiba Thunders (#8) in Kanagawa in the next round. Tochigi Brex will play on the road against Panasonic Trians in Osaka and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
