An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Akita. First ranked Akita Happinets faced second-ranked Chiba Jets. Host Akita Happinets (6-1) defeated guests from Chiba (5-2) 75-62. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Chiba Jets. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game without a history. Akita Happinets led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. The winners were led by American guard Michael Gardener (182-81, college: SE Louisiana) who scored that evening 27 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and Dutch-American power forward Stanley Ocitti (203-80, college: Binghamton) supported him with 13 points and 8 rebounds. Even a double-double of 23 points and 16 rebounds by American guard Jamel Staten (198-83, college: Minn.St.-Mankato) did not help to save the game for Chiba Jets. His fellow American import guard Maurice Hargrow (193-83, college: Minnesota) added 11 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Akita Happinets have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 6-1 record, which they share with Osaka Evessa. Chiba Jets at the other side keep the second place with two games lost.
