Regular Season Round 4: Olimpi - Sokhumi 90-76
Date: November 5, 2011
Another interesting game was again a derby between two local teams from Tbilisi: Olympus (#7) and Sokhumi (#2). Olympus (2-1) won against visiting Sokhumi (3-1) 90-76. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Sokhumi. The game was mostly controlled by Olympus. Sokhumi managed to win third quarter 27-25. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Olympus looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The winners were led by the former international guard Giorgi Gamqrelidze (183-86, agency: Interperformances) who scored that evening 22 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists and Serbian center Ilija Milutinovic (213-88, college: Oakland, agency: Global Sports Plaza) supported him with 14 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Olympus players scored in double figures. Olympus' coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 38 points (!!!) and 5 assists by international guard Lasha Parghalava (191-87, college: Montana St. - Billin) did not help to save the game for Sokhumi. International guard Levan Patsatsia (198-88, college: Troy) added 18 points and 13 rebounds for lost side. Olympus moved-up to fifth place, which they share with TSU Tbilisi. Loser Sokhumi keeps the second position with one game lost. They share it with Kutaisi and STU Tbilisi. Olympus will meet at home league's second-placed Kutaisi in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Sokhumi will play against Batumi and hope to secure a win.
