There was an upset when higher ranked S.E.Battipaglia (3-3) lost on the road to thirteenth ranked Napoli BK Women (2-4) 78-66 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Napoli BK Women. S.E.Battipaglia was better in fourth quarter 18-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Napoli BK Women forced 23 S.E.Battipaglia turnovers. It was a good game for Bulgarian power forward Milena Tomova (189-82, college: FIU) who led her team to a victory with 18 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Nadia Calamai (170-86) contributed with 17 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Guard Giovanna Granieri (170-74) replied with 17 points (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and Czech center Martina Rejchova (195-83) added 14 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for S.E.Battipaglia. Five Napoli BK Women and four S.E.Battipaglia players scored in double figures. Napoli BK Women moved-up to tenth place in South, which they share with Ancona. Newly promoted S.E.Battipaglia keeps the sixth position with three games lost. Napoli BK Women will face higher ranked Ragusa (#3) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
