Regular Season Round 11: Chanson V-M - Mitsubishi K. 54-67

There was a minor upset in Shizuoka where 5th ranked Chanson V-M (4-7) was defeated by seventh ranked Mitsubishi K. (3-8) 67-54 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Mitsubishi K.. Chanson V-M managed to win fourth quarter 17-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Chanson V-M 43-27 including 29 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was swingman Mitiko Miyamoto (175-86) who scored 16 points and 9 rebounds. Center Enjin Wantsu (189-87) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. Four Mitsubishi K. players scored in double figures. Mitsubishi K.'s coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Makoto Rin (168-88) produced 16 points and the former international power forward Yuka Watanabe (181-81) added 15 points respectively for the hosts. Mitsubishi K. moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Airlines R. Loser Chanson V-M keeps the fifth position with seven games lost. Mitsubishi K. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Chanson V-M will play again against Mitsubishi K. (#7) in Nagoya and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
