Regular Season Round 8: Toyama Grouses - Iwate Big Bulls 88-79

The game between closely ranked teams ended with ninth ranked Toyama Grouses' (3-4) home victory over 10th ranked Iwate Big Bulls (1-6) 88-79 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 20-14. But Iwate Big Bulls won second period 21-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was Masashi Joho (183-82) who scored 33 points (!!!). American power forward Devin Searcy (208-89, college: Dayton, agency: Pro One Sports) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds. Four Toyama Grouses players scored in double figures. Toyama Grouses' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American forward Thomas Kennedy (201-87, college: Detroit Mercy, agency: Global Sports Plaza) produced 33 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds and guard Yoshiaki Yamamoto (-82) added 8 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the guests. Toyama Grouses moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 5 other teams. Loser Iwate Big Bulls dropped to the eighth position with six games lost. Toyama Grouses will face again Iwate Big Bulls (#10) at home in the next round where they are favorite.
