There was a surprise result when eighth ranked Trefl II Sopot (3-3) beat at home 4th placed AZS PP Poznan (4-3) 76-69 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 76-69. Trefl II Sopot forced 22 AZS PP Poznan turnovers and outrebounded them 44-27 including a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for forward Wojciech Fras (203-91) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Filip Malgorzaciak (188-93) helped adding 22 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. At the losing side forward Pawel Stankiewicz (195-82) responded with 20 points and point guard Pawel Hybiak (173-89) scored 10 points and 4 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Trefl II Sopot have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to seventh place in Group A, which they share with Zyrardowianka. Loser AZS PP Poznan keeps the fourth position with three games lost. Trefl II Sopot will face higher ranked AZS UWM Olsz. (#5) in Olsztyn in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. AZS PP Poznan will play at home against Zyrardowianka.
