Very predictable result in Gorzow Wklp where second ranked Astoria Bydg. (5-1) smashed 9th ranked GKK Gorzow (2-5) 109-85 on Sunday. Astoria Bydg. made 24-of-28 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. They also forced 23 GKK Gorzow turnovers and had a 26-13 advantage in offensive rebounds. Astoria Bydg. looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Astoria Bydg. made 9 blocks. It was a great evening for power forward Sebastian Laydych (203-87) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds. Forward Dorian Szyttenholm (194-83) helped adding 22 points and 12 rebounds (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!). Four Astoria Bydg. players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward Wojciech Rogacewicz (203-86, college: Mount Olive) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Karol Cierzniewski (199-89) scored 22 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Astoria Bydg. maintains second place in Group A with 5-1 record having just three points less than leader Open Florentyna. GKK Gorzow lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the eleventh position with five games lost. Astoria Bydg. will face KK Swiecie (#9) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. GKK Gorzow will play against Korsarz Gdansk and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
