Bottom-ranked Volcanes (0-24) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 24th consecutive match to seventh ranked Pioneros (12-8) 106-67. The game was mostly controlled by Pioneros. Volcanes was better in second period 16-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. 24 personal fouls committed by Volcanes helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for American guard LeRoy Hickerson (196-82, college: Cumberlands) who led his team to a victory with 27 points and 5 assists. The other American import forward John Millsap (198-82, college: UTSA) contributed with 20 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Millsap is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Pioneros players scored in double figures. Pioneros' coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Larry Morinia (180-80, college: Montana St., agency: ProSportsCareers) replied with 23 points and guard Jesus Rivera added 13 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Volcanes. Pioneros maintains seventh position with 12-8 record. Volcanes at the other side still closes the standings. Pioneros' next round opponent will be Aguilas Rojas (#13) in San Juan where they are favorite. Volcanes will play at home against Soles in Mexicali and hope to get finally their first victory.
