There was a small surprise when eleventh ranked Assi Ostuni (3-3) beat 9th ranked Biancoblu BO (2-3) in Bologna 82-71 on Sunday. Biancoblu BO was trailing by 6 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 24-12 charge of Assi Ostuni, which allowed them to win the game. Biancoblu BO was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for Slovenian guard Jaka Klobucar (198-87) who led his team to a victory with 20 points and 5 rebounds. American guard Aaron Johnson (172-88, college: UAB) contributed with 15 points and 6 assists for the winners. Five Assi Ostuni players scored in double figures. Assi Ostuni's coach Franco Marcelletti used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Tre Kelley (182-85, college: S.Carolina) replied with 15 points and 5 assists and forward Patrick Baldassarre (200-86, agency: Players Group) added 13 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Biancoblu BO. Assi Ostuni moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Sigma Barcel. Biancoblu BO lost third consecutive game. Biancoblu BO at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the ninth position with three games lost. Assi Ostuni will face Prima Veroli (#13) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Biancoblu BO will play against Centrale Latte (#3) in Brescia.
