Regular Season Round 24: Lechugueros - Halc.Rojos 98-97

The most exciting game of round 24 in the LNBP took place in Leon. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of second-best Halcones Rojos (16-4) to eleventh ranked Lechugueros (9-13) 98-97 on Sunday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Halcones Rojos. The hosts trailed by 10 points after three quarters before their 31-20 charge, which allowed them to win the game. They outrebounded Halcones Rojos 45-32 including 31 on the defensive glass. Lechugueros looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Deilvez Yearby (198-87, college: IPFW, agency: Pro One Sports) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists and Bahamas power forward Ryan Moss (200-74, college: UALR) who added 22 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was Puerto Rican point guard Carlos Rivera (187-83, college: Hofstra, agency: Paris Global Sports) with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists and Venezuelan point guard Gregory Vargas (182-86) scored 13 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Halcones Rojos' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Lechugueros have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to tenth place. Halcones Rojos at the other side keep the second position with four games lost. Lechugueros are looking forward to face higher ranked Toros (#3) in Nuevo Laredo in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Halcones Rojos will play on the road against Huracanes in Tampico and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
