Regular Season Round 8: Casalpusterlengo - Fabriano 81-76

There was no surprise when bottom-ranked Fabriano (0-8) lost on the road to third ranked Casalpusterlengo (6-2) 81-76 on Sunday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Fabriano won third quarter 15-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Fabriano 45-27 including 18 on the offensive glass. Guard Roberto Prandin (188-86) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points and 5 rebounds. Power forward Alberto Chiumenti (204-87, agency: Players Group) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Casalpusterlengo's coach Simone Lottici allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The former international forward Mario Gigena (198-77) replied with 20 points and 6 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and power forward Luca Usberti (201-73) added 14 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Fabriano. Five Casalpusterlengo and four Fabriano players scored in double figures. Casalpusterlengo maintains third position with 6-2 record having just two points less than leader Bari. Newly promoted Fabriano still closes the standings with eight games lost. Casalpusterlengo will face league's leader Omegna on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Fabriano will play against Orlandina (#3) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
