Regular Season Round 9: Anwil - Stelmet ZG 63-77

The game between second ranked Anwil (6-2) and fifth ranked Zastal ZG (5-2) was the most important one in the last round on Sunday night. Anwil was defeated by Zastal ZG in Wloclawek 63-77. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Anwil. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 77-63. It was a good game for Nigerian forward Gani Lawal (206-88, college: Georgia Tech) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks. International forward Piotr Stelmach (205-84, college: Mississippi St.) contributed with 17 points and 4 assists for the winners. Four Zastal ZG players scored in double figures. American power forward Corsley Edwards (205-79, college: Cent.Conn.St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds and international guard Dardan Berisha (192-88, agency: Global Sports Plaza) added 9 points in the effort for Anwil. Zastal ZG moved-up to fourth place. Anwil at the other side dropped to the third position with two games lost. Zastal ZG are looking forward to face Trefl Sopot (#5) at home in the next round. Anwil will play against the league's leader PGE Turow in Zgorzelec and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
