Regular Season Round 24: Soles - Huracanes 64-67

Date: November 6, 2011
Important game to mention about took place in Mexicali. Fourth ranked Huracanes (15-8) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging 5th ranked Soles (14-10) 67-64 in the fight for the fourth place. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Soles. Soles cut a 13-point halftime deficit to three at the end of the game. Huracanes brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. The winners were led by Venezuelan forward Nestor Colmenares (203-87, college: Campbellsville) who scored that evening 11 points and 7 rebounds and American power forward Robert Hornsby (196-82, college: Troy) supported him with 13 points and 4 assists. Even a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds by Venezuelan swingman Jose Vargas (196-82) did not help to save the game for Soles. Venezuelan point guard David Cubillan (183-87, college: Marquette) added 18 points and 5 assists. Huracanes have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 15-8 record. Soles at the other side keep the fifth place with ten games lost. Huracanes will play against league's second-placed Halcones Rojos in Veracruz in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Soles will play on the road against Volcanes in Toluca and hope to get back on the winning track.
