Regular Season Round 12: Fujitsu RW - JX Sunflowers 56-59

The most exciting game of round 12 in the WJBL took place in Kawasaki. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 4th ranked Fujitsu RW (7-5) to first ranked JX Sunflowers (10-2) 59-56 on Sunday evening. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 8-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 59-56. The best player for the winners was international point guard Asami Yoshida (165-87) who had a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. International center Hiromi Suwa (183-85) chipped in 13 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was swingman Tika Yamamoto (175-91) who recorded 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and power forward Megumi Shinohara (184-91) added 12 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Fujitsu RW's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. JX Sunflowers have an impressive six-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 10-2 record, which they share with Toyota A. Fujitsu RW lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with five games lost. JX Sunflowers is looking forward to face Airlines R. (#7) in Tokyo in the next round where they are favorite. Fujitsu RW will play at home against the league's second-placed Toyota A. in Nagoya and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
