Regular Season Round 6: Keflavik - Snaefell 82-66

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Keflavik as it allowed them to take a leadership position after previous leader's (KR) loss. Keflavik defeated 4th ranked Snaefell at home 82-66. It looked good early as Snaefell took an 3-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Keflavik had a 30-13 second period charge getting the lead and Snaefell was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 66-82. Keflavik dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Snaefell's 38. Keflavik forced 19 Snaefell turnovers. They brought some defensive toughness making 9 blocks. American forward Jaleesa Butler (183-87, college: Georgetown) notched a double-double by scoring 27 points and 20 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international forward Birna Valgardsdottir (181-76) supported her with 13 points and 6 rebounds. Keflavik's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 16 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists by the former international guard Hildur Sigurdardottir (178-81) did not help to save the game for Snaefell. American forward Kieraah Marlow (178-85) added 19 points. Four Snaefell players scored in double figures. Keflavik (5-1) have an impressive five-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with KR. Snaefell at the other side keeps the fourth place with three games lost. Snaefell will play next round against Fjolnir trying to get back on the winning streak. Keflavik will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked KR at Reykjavik.
