Regular Season Round 6: Tindastoll - Valur 89-82

Tindastoll can celebrate finally their first win this season after five consecutive loses. They used home court advantage to defeat Valur (0-6) 89-82. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 22-16. But Valur won second period 25-24. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Tindastoll made 25-of-31 charity shots (80.6 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Valur turnovers. 25 personal fouls committed by Valur helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American forward Trey Hampton (201-87, college: Georgia St.) notched 21 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and the other American import guard Maurice Miller (187-88, college: Georgia Tech) supported him with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Tindastoll players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 18 points and 15 rebounds by Slovenian power forward Igor Tratnik (206-89) did not help to save the game for Valur. Guard Garrison Johnson added 23 points and 6 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Tindastoll (1-5) left bottom position moving up to tenth place, which they share with Haukar. It was Valur's sixth loss in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with six games lost. Tindastoll's next round opponent will be Haukar (#10) in Hafnarfjordur. Valur's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Reykjavik IR.
